Abby lay as still as she could, closing her eyes and pretending to be asleep. She could feel the warmth of his breath on her cheek as he peered over the side of her face to see if she was really asleep.
Then he slowly retreated and went to his own room for the night. The next morning, tensions arose between Abby and her father. It was obvious to her, but her mother had no idea.
