She tiptoed from her room to her parents’ room to see if her mother was indeed still there, and she was. Then Abby slowly crept down the stairs and out through the back door.
This time, she had learned from her mistake and didn’t let the door fall shut. She closed it gently behind her, almost silently. She paused for a moment to make sure her father hadn’t heard her, and then proceeded to the shed.
