In Documentary, Vladimir Putin Blames Romania and Bulgaria for War in Ukraine
Three years after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin blames Romania and Bulgaria for it in a propaganda film broadcast on the Russian state television channel “Russia-1“, the Romanian news channel Digi 24 reported and broadcast footage from the film, BTA reported.
In the propaganda film “Russia. Kremlin. Putin. 25 Years“ on “Russia-1“, the President of the Russian Federation says that Romania and Bulgaria contributed to the tension that led to the war in Ukraine by hosting American bases on their territory.
The documentary features archive footage of Putin’s speech in the presence of then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“They have forces on our state borders. So-called light forward American bases are appearing in Bulgaria and Romania, one in each country. Still, we have every right to ask openly: against whom is this expansion directed?“, Putin asks in the film, part of which was broadcast in the report of Digi 24.
“Russia will either be independent and sovereign, or it will not exist at all“, the Russian leader also says. He points out that this is the message he wanted to send “to our partners and colleagues“ in the hope that Russia will be heard and the attitude towards it will be corrected.
“Unfortunately, we were not heard. That is, they heard, but did not react as they should. Ultimately, this led to the tragic events today in Ukraine“, Putin says in the film.
“Russia. Kremlin. Putin. 25 years“ is a 90-minute documentary by propagandist Pavel Zarubin, which includes a series of interviews recorded in the spring of 2025. They present the “achievements“ of Vladimir Putin since he came to power, according to the news website “Medusa“, quoted by Digi 24.
