A perfect replacement?

The family was happier than they had been in some time. They thought they had found the perfect replacement for Rio, and all their wishes and hopes had been answered. However, a shock would soon follow.

In the middle of the night, at two in the morning, they were awakened by a loud howl. Billy’s heart raced as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He went downstairs to see what was going on. What was happening?
