Telegram has filed a formal complaint with Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) against Apple, accusing the tech giant of arbitrary and unsubstantiated removal of its app from the App Store and blocking its developer account.

The messaging platform claims Apple provided no specific reasons or technical feedback for the two-week-old restrictions, which also limit updates to existing iOS apps. Telegram says it has only received “formal replies” and a “reputational blow” instead of dialogue.

In its FAS appeal, Telegram demands the restoration of its app and changes to Apple’s procedures to prevent similar treatment of other developers. The company argues that Apple must provide clear technical complaints and deadlines when suspicions arise, allowing developers to respond and make necessary changes.

Telegram is also considering legal action against media and bloggers spreading what it calls false information, but says restoring its app and developer account remains the top priority.
