The voice on the other end of the line sounded deep, stern, and somewhat threatening. It was certainly intimidating. The man said he was calling on behalf of the local wildlife conservation authority and that they needed to speak with him.
What did I do?
Peter was startled by the situation unfolding and also wondered how this man got hold of his phone number. This situation was getting stranger by the minute.
The man explained to Peter that his colleagues had seen the photo he posted of the peculiar snake. They simply wanted to ask him a few questions about it.
Thinking about what to do
Confused, Peter realized he didn’t have much of a choice in this matter. The man even knew which hotel Peter was staying at, so escape seemed futile.
If only he had never taken that photo of the snake, Peter thought. He was instructed to wait at the entrance of the forest, where a ranger would meet him. Peter was to lead the ranger to the exact spot where he encountered the snake.
He should have never taken that photo!
With no idea what else to do in this situation, Peter decided that he would simply cooperate fully. He didn’t want any trouble, but now he had gotten himself into it.
