Evidence of a drill has been found
Khufu, who allegedly built the Khufu Pyramid, was buried in a peculiar sarcophagus that has always baffled researchers. The sarcophagus weighed about 3.75 tons – too large and heavy to have been brought into the pyramid after it was completed. The sarcophagus must have been placed inside before the construction was finished.
The entire sarcophagus was made from a single piece of granite that had been shaped. However, granite is hard, and the sarcophagus had holes that appeared to have been drilled into it. What kind of primitive drill was strong enough to penetrate granite?
