Despite the assumption that the Egyptians built the pyramids using wood and ropes, researchers still cannot say for certain how it all worked. The Egyptians simply did not seem to have the tools to create something so large and precise. In fact, scientists have attempted to recreate something similar, but on a smaller scale, and each time they have failed.
The truth is that the Khufu Pyramid was constructed using 2.3 million stone blocks, each weighing between 2.5 and 15 tons. No amount of wood could have withstood that, and the workers would have had to place a stone every 2.5 minutes in order to finish within 20 years, as initially believed. Some researchers believe that the pyramids were built by a civilization that was more advanced than the Egyptians.
