Explosion in Kyiv: Klitschko Sounds Alarm Amid Air Raid

Kyiv Mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko, has announced an explosion in the Ukrainian capital city, amidst an ongoing air raid. The incident was reported on Klitschko’s Telegram channel.

The initial publication urged residents to remain in their shelters until further notice, stating, “An explosion in the city. Do not leave your shelters until the all-clear!”

Later updates revealed that two power lines had been damaged, causing a loss of electricity in certain areas on the left bank of the Dnieper River. Additionally, a fire broke out in Kyiv’s Goloseevsky district.

Multiple explosions were reported not only within Kyiv but also in the Kyiv and Cherkasy regions. Sergei Lysak, the head of the Dnepropetrovsk regional military administration, shared on Telegram that the morning was marked by loud sounds in the region. Further details regarding damages and casualties are expected to be disclosed once the all-clear is given.

Reports of explosions have also surfaced in other Ukrainian cities and regions, including Kharkov, Nikolaev, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv in western Ukraine. Oleg Sinegubov, the head of the Kharkov regional military administration, stated that non-residential infrastructures suffered damage.

This incident follows an earlier air raid alert that was announced across Ukraine on the morning of February 7. The Russian army has allegedly launched missile attacks specifically targeting Ukrainian energy, defense industry, military command, and communications facilities. However, the Kremlin emphasized that residential buildings and social infrastructure were not being targeted by their troops.
