Abandoning Mike
“Sorry, man,” they said to Mike as they turned around and started running on the ice. Mike was now alone. His friends called out to him from the shore, but he refused to abandon the crocodile. He knew he couldn’t bear the thought of leaving an animal to die. It was now or never. Mike’s plan seemed relatively simple.
He turned the shovel upside down so that the handle faced the crocodile. The animal was supposed to grab the shovel by the handle, and Mike could then pull it out of the water. He was convinced his plan would work. So he took a deep breath and pointed the handle towards the crocodile.
